Tomato grower Petra van den Bosch in Bleiswijk was reported to be less affected by rising gas prices because her family business began extracting geothermal energy 20 years ago. Hot water from nearly two kilometres underground is used to heat the greenhouses, as temperatures fall and energy prices rise.
