Further errors were found in the municipal budget of Vlaardingen, marking the second time that problems with the budget had been identified. An earlier review found that €40.5 million had not been recorded correctly; it later emerged that investments worth more than €23 million had not been included.

Several opposition parties called the situation worrying, and one politician said they felt ashamed on behalf of the municipality.
