The municipality wants to keep free parking in the centre of Alphen aan den Rijn for at least another four years. Since the end of 2022, visitors have been able to park free of charge for up to 90 minutes. The municipality is considering extending paid parking to other parts of the town, while the annual cost of the lost parking revenue is estimated at €800,000. It remains unclear who would pay that amount.
