Fred van Leeuwen was wrongly diagnosed with ALS

Eight years ago, Fred van Leeuwen, 70, from The Hague, was diagnosed with ALS, a fatal disease affecting the nerves and muscles. Four years later, doctors determined that the diagnosis was wrong and that he was healthy.

He had spent four years believing that he had ALS and would die soon, and was not immediately able to come to terms with the reversal of the diagnosis.
