Fraud against an elderly couple in Emmeloord

An elderly couple in Emmeloord was defrauded in mid-September by someone posing as a police officer. The caller claimed that burglars had been active in the area and arranged for a courier to collect the couple’s bank card, jewellery and €630 in cash.

After the couple’s daughter discovered the fraud, she had the card blocked, but €500 had already been withdrawn from an ATM on Scandinavië. Police released blurred images of the person who made the withdrawal, saying the person may be underage, and said recognisable images would be published on 29 October if the suspect does not come forward.
