A water main was struck during work on the Hoogstraat in central Schiedam, flooding the shopping street. Water reached up to 20 centimetres deep in places and entered some shops. Water company Evides closed the main valve to limit further damage. Shopkeepers were cleaning up; one report said financial damage had occurred, without specifying an amount.
