Three adults and two boys were rescued near Kiribati after drifting in the Pacific for about three months. They had set out at the end of July from Micronesia for a short crossing between the islands of Murilo and Ruo, but were blown off course by a storm.
Their boat, which reportedly had no steering, was found more than 5,000 kilometres from its intended destination. Four other people who had been travelling with them remain unaccounted for.
