Ebola case detected in Abuja

Nigerian health authorities reported that a woman in the capital, Abuja, had tested positive for Ebola. Health Minister Muhammad Ali Pate said she had been placed in isolation and was receiving care.

The woman had travelled to Uganda, according to a single report. That report said contact tracing was under way and that 44 people who had been in contact with her had been identified. The case was described as Nigeria's first in the current outbreak affecting the Democratic Republic of Congo and the first confirmed case in West Africa in that outbreak.
