Fireworks dealers expressed strong emotions about changes affecting the sector. Peter van Hooijdonk, whose family had been in the fireworks business for decades, said that families who came every December across several generations were no longer doing so.

Van Hooijdonk said he would be fine but intended to challenge what he described as inadequate compensation. He also said that fireworks from abroad would soon be in the air.
