Fire destroys Davy Crockett shooting club saloon in Meterik

A fire destroyed the wooden clubhouse of shooting club Davy Crockett in Meterik during the opening party for its newly built saloon. Dozens of people were present, but everyone was able to leave the building in time. About 100 firefighters were deployed, and no ammunition was inside the building.

Members had built the saloon themselves over seven months for the club’s 60th anniversary. It had been completed two weeks earlier, and an open day was planned for the following day. The cause of the fire was not reported.
