A fire broke out around noon at a cocoa company on Coffeeweg in Amsterdam's Westelijk Havengebied, releasing a large amount of smoke. Firefighters scaled up their response to a major fire amid concern that it could spread to nearby businesses, but it did not spread and the fire was brought under control.
Employees left the building quickly and nobody was injured. A spokesperson for the Veiligheidsregio Amsterdam-Amstelland said a blower, a machine used to move cocoa through the factory, may have caused the fire.
