A major fire broke out on Wednesday evening at Van Wijnen, a construction company in Gorredijk. Flames came from the company building, and firefighters deployed extensive equipment and spent hours fighting the blaze.

The company warehouse was destroyed. An NL-Alert was issued to nearby residents because of smoke. There was temporarily a risk of explosions from gas cylinders at the site, but they were removed.
