The Public Prosecution Service fined Landbank GMG in Andelst €200,000 for accepting and depositing contaminated waste from geothermal drilling without the required permit between 2021 and 2022. The company accepted the fine, avoiding a court case against it.

Criminal proceedings against two other companies suspected of offering the waste are still planned.
