Filming of King of the Walls in Amsterdam

A replica of Amsterdam sex theatre Casa Rosso was built on Krom Boomssloot for the filming of King of the Walls, a six-part series about Maurits de Vries, known as Zwarte Joop. The production had previously filmed in Belgium and Gouda. A scene filmed in Amsterdam involved a police car being pushed into a canal; Gijs Naber plays Zwarte Joop, while Thekla Reuten, Holly Mae Brood and Lisa Zweerman also appear in the series.

Filming at Krom Boomssloot continues until Friday. The series is due to be available on NPO Start in early 2028.

Tina Nijkamp discussed changes in Dutch television

1 source

Across a series of television and media podcasts, TV ratings expert Tina Nijkamp discussed developments in Dutch broadcasting with journalists and media commentators including Mark Koster, Wilson Boldewijn and Pepijn van den Brink. The subjects included falling or disappointing ratings for programmes such as Best Singers, Show News, Expedition Robinson, Renze and André Hazes’ reality series; the performance of new programmes; and criticism of documentaries about René Froger and Femke Halsema. The discussions also addressed tensions surrounding Dutch participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, the budgets and reach of NPO podcasts, changes at the NOS, and the redesign of Studio Sport and the NOS Journal. The latest discussion concerned an additional weather bulletin after the 8 p.m. news, which Nijkamp said had attracted substantially fewer viewers, as well as the presentation of RTL Boulevard by Marieke Elsinga and the possible effect of a podcast on a talk show’s ratings.
