The lives of Cora van der Plas, 36, and Joep van der Plas, 37, in Zundert have been dominated by hospital visits since their three-year-old son Niek suffered a partial spinal cord injury. The family bought a job house there, but has made little progress with it.

They described the situation as their new normal and said it would not return to what it was before.
