A man was injured after falling about five metres from an escalator at Vijzelgracht metro station during the night. Emergency services, including an ambulance medical team and a fire brigade rapid-response team, attended and he was taken to hospital by ambulance.

A witness said the man went over the edge of the escalator after a glass panel broke and landed on the tracks. Police said glass was found below but could not confirm how he fell or where he landed. They are not investigating because they consider it an accident.
