Fairytale artworks highlight nature at Art10days in Bergen

Almost 300 artists are showing photographs, paintings and sculptures at venues in and around Bergen and Bergen aan Zee as part of Art10days. In the Minhallen in Bergen, Sandra Keja Planken and florist Karin Looijesteijn are presenting a joint installation about admiration for nature and warnings about its destruction. Planken’s works depict the underwater world, including coral threatened by ocean warming, while her dresses are made from recycled materials such as PET bottles. Looijesteijn’s works use dried flowers, shrubs and previously used plants to portray nature’s condition above ground and its resilience after drought.

The exhibition includes a moss-covered setting with a ceramic couch and cinnamon sticks, intended as a place for visitors to relax. Art10days runs through Sunday 25 October in Bergen and Bergen aan Zee, and the artists’ work is on display in the Minhallen in Bergen.
