Eye examinations reveal need for glasses among teenagers in Almere

At an action held at the Food Bank Almere, 61 teenagers received free eye examinations, and 31 appeared to need glasses. Some needed glasses for the first time, while others needed replacements. The children could choose frames at the food bank; those who could not be helped there were referred to a local Hans Anders optician.
The action was organized by the National Children's Aid Fund, De Brillenbus, VISION 2020, Food Bank Almere and the municipality of Almere to address child spectacle poverty and raise awareness of available support. Alderman Aya Selman attended. Families unable to afford glasses can seek information through schools or aid workers, and parents in Almere can also contact the coordinators of 'When I grow up' in Almere.
