Extinction Rebellion summons police and state over officer identification

Extinction Rebellion has summoned the police and the Dutch state to court, seeking enforcement of clear identification requirements for officers at demonstrations. The group said the absence of identifiable officers makes it difficult to file effective complaints over alleged excessive police violence.
It cited a ruling earlier this year in which a judge said no one could be prosecuted over a broken wrist suffered by an arrested XR protester because the officers involved could not be identified.
