Expedition Holland visited the German island of Borkum in the Wadden Sea and met Klaas Steenhuis there. Borkum was described as the “Groningen Wadden Island”; it can be reached by boat from Eemshaven and is closer than Schiermonnikoog. The Dutch-German ties were said to date back to the 17th century.
