EuroLeague clubs provisionally reject NBA cooperation proposal

EuroLeague basketball clubs have provisionally rejected a proposal from the NBA to cooperate on a new European competition, according to the account. A participant at a meeting in Cernobbio, Italy, described the proposal as “colonialist.” The NBA wants to launch its own European competition from 2027 with 16 franchise-based teams in 12 major cities: Paris, Lyon, London, Manchester, Berlin, Munich, Madrid, Barcelona, Athens, Istanbul, Milan and Rome. It is seeking cooperation with the 13 participating EuroLeague clubs; 20 top European clubs are currently active, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Anadolu Efes, Paris Basketball and Olimpia Milano.
