Euro falls to 17-month low against dollar

The euro fell to its lowest level against the US dollar in 17 months. Reports attributed the move to growing political unrest in Europe and a renewed political risk premium in the euro area. The dollar rose despite moderate US employment figures, which would normally have been expected to weaken it, reflecting in part the euro’s weakness.
