EU court adviser’s opinion on Google Gemini and news publishers’ rights
◆3 sources
An adviser to the Court of Justice of the European Union said that Google’s Gemini chatbot could infringe news publishers’ rights. The assessment depends largely on how the chatbot obtains and presents information.
The opinion concerned a case brought by a Hungarian media company against Google over whether AI chatbots infringe publishers’ copyright by summarising published articles within their own services. The court has not yet issued its ruling.
