EU leaders met in Brussels to discuss the next seven-year EU budget, as well as high energy prices and further financial support for Ukraine. Negotiations on the 2028-2034 budget remain blocked, although there is renewed hope of an agreement. European Council President António Costa is seeking a deal by 2026, before elections in several member states, notably France, could complicate the talks further.
