Frenkie de Jong returned to training with FC Barcelona after months out with a knee injury and later resumed group training. He was left out of the squad for the Champions League match against Galatasaray because he was not yet fit enough, but was subsequently included in the squad for the La Liga match away to Real Betis. De Jong did not play against Betis, despite being on the bench, as Barcelona won 5-2. Coach Hansi Flick also said De Jong could be used in defence because of injuries among defenders ahead of the match with Paris Saint-Germain. Ahead of El Clásico against Real Madrid, De Jong said he feels ready after showing his fitness in training and hopes to make his return.
