Empty seats reported at Chinese Communist Party meeting

Thirty-three senior members were reportedly removed from the Chinese Communist Party. At the end of a large annual party meeting in Beijing, a record number of empty seats was observed, described as unprecedented in modern Chinese history.

The reported vacancies were linked to continuing internal purges within the party.
