Catholic priest Patricio Alfredo Sánchez Molinari died after a wooden crucifix fell from a wall and struck him during an evening Mass at the Perpetuo Socorro church in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The service was being livestreamed on social media.

Emergency responders were unable to save him. The Archdiocese of Guayaquil confirmed his death and said it was praying for his eternal rest. Sánchez Molinari was in charge of the parish.
