A 78-seat majority in the Dutch lower house called on the cabinet to uphold the right to and access to abortion. The motion was submitted by PRO-Room member Lisa Vliegenthart and was not supported by the coalition party CDA.
CDA member André Poortman said he supported the right to abortion. Separately, the CDA voted against a motion to end a pilot involving late abortions for non-medical reasons, despite saying it had serious reservations about the pilot.
