Dronten council backs CDA motion on vaping prevention

CDA Dronten proposed additional measures to discourage vaping, including signs at schools and sports facilities promoting a smoke- and vape-free generation. The party also suggested that the municipality use signs, subsidies and existing regulations to establish smoke- and vape-free zones, and work with the GGD, schools, sports clubs, youth services and parent networks on information and awareness. The CDA said e-cigarettes contain harmful substances that can damage the airways, heart and blood vessels.
Alderman Lap questioned whether the proposals could be incorporated into the municipality’s existing work, as there was no room for additional efforts. The CDA said that was the intention, and Willemien Wever offered to help arrange the signs. The motion was supported by all parties.
