North Holland presented draft plans to better protect dunes and vulnerable nature in the Natura 2000 areas Kennemerland-Zuid and Noordhollands Duinreservaat. The plans provide for more controlled recreation and for dog off-leash areas to be modified or relocated where needed.

A new management plan for the Schoorl Dunes has also been completed and is already final.
