A new NH documentary by journalists Thomas Jak and Robbert Jacobs examined whether state aid could help Tata Steel make its IJmuiden operations more sustainable while remaining profitable and competitive. They visited experts and the steel company to investigate whether the sustainability plans were viable or risked becoming a dead end. Professor Jan Rotmans said Tata Steel faced a difficult conflict between competing with steelmakers in India and China and producing cleaner, more sustainable steel. Professor Gert Jan Kramer said state support was logical if the Netherlands wanted green projects to be carried out at the IJmuiden site.
