Dispute over locations for traffic thresholds at Poldervlak

The municipality of Almere has found room within existing major maintenance budgets to install eight traffic thresholds at the Poldervlak business park in Almere Buiten. Entrepreneurs welcomed the availability of funding after complaints about speeding and several accidents, following a municipal speed study that found excessive speeds. The thresholds were initially considered too expensive, and a motion had called for measures on dangerous roads including the Splijtbakweg.
Entrepreneurs are dissatisfied with the proposed locations. Henry Meering, who runs a coach company at the site, said they had been told the locations were already set and the thresholds ordered, despite an earlier understanding that they would be selected in consultation with entrepreneurs. He said the proposed locations were on roads where vehicles could not drive too fast, while the road where measures were most needed would not receive them. The entrepreneurs intend to object if the traffic decision is submitted.
