Dispute over clothing containers at Action store in Boxtel

Residents of Van Hornstraat in Boxtel have complained about repeated dumping around textile and glass containers at an Action store. The waste has included clothing, furniture, baby items, bicycles, dog beds and oil cans. The municipality has received 172 reports about the site over four years and has regularly arranged clean-ups, but says the property is privately owned and that maintaining it is not formally a municipal responsibility. It also says the clothing containers appear to have been placed illegally and would prefer to see them removed; the owner of the containers is unknown.

The site owner, Mark de Jong of JOVAGO B.V., also wants the clothing containers removed and says Action, as the tenant, is responsible for keeping the premises clean. He has discussed the issue with the store. The municipality has been unable to arrange a meeting with Action, while the relocation of the glass containers to public space is being considered. The issue has been put on the political agenda, with PRO Boxtel submitting questions and the matter due to be discussed at a council meeting.
