Dispute over a Sinterklaas procession in Rotterdam

Opinion maker Wierd Duk said in a podcast that a Sinterklaas procession in a Rotterdam district was unlikely to continue because Saint Nicholas was considered “too white.” He called this unreasonable and argued that the majority should set limits to what he described as excessive demands.

The podcast also discussed rhetoric surrounding Israel and mentioned a Paris-style demonstration planned for the following Saturday on the Malieveld in The Hague.

Wierd Duk discusses French protests and threats to Europe

1 source

In several podcast episodes and a current-affairs programme, opinion maker Wierd Duk discussed the political debate in the Netherlands, unrest in France and what he described as threats to Europe. He contrasted Dutch politicians with a young French student whom he said demonstrated strong debating skills, and argued that a lack of authority allowed radical groups to gain influence. He also said that mass immigration had disrupted the Dutch housing market. Duk described Europe as facing internal and external threats, including an alliance of extreme-left revolutionaries and jihadists, and countries such as Russia and Iran. Following riots in several French cities, which were described as beginning as student protests before attracting other groups, he discussed how young people grow up in French suburbs. He said the French leadership was unwilling to name what he considered the ethnic dimension of the problem.
