Martha Kootstra, chair of the Boornbergum local interest association, said that the municipality of Smallingerland’s plan to build 500 homes in Boornbergum conflicted with the Provincial Environmental Vision (POVI) adopted by the province of Fryslân the previous week. She said the vision could help stop the large-scale construction project.
