Dutch media programmes discussed television ratings and programming

1 source

Across a series of episodes of Tina's TV Update and De Mediaweek, Tina Nijkamp and other media commentators discussed developments in Dutch television. Topics included the Netherlands’ prospects at the MIPCOM television fair in Cannes, the international performance of Dutch formats, possible new coaching programmes, Herman van der Zandt’s new quiz show and changes to programmes including Van Roosmalen & Groenteman and a BNNVARA game show. They also discussed the Eurovision Song Contest, after several broadcasters called for the Netherlands to withdraw, and funding for NPO podcasts, which was described as substantial despite concerns about their audiences. The programmes focused repeatedly on disappointing or uncertain viewing figures. Best Singers was said to be performing at about half last year’s level, while Show News had reportedly recorded low ratings for a prolonged period. Concerns were also raised about Expedition Robinson, Got Talent, Renze, André Hazes and Buzz. Other discussions covered RTL Boulevard presenters, Farm of Dorst, a new RTL4 relationship programme, Love Is Blind and the Dutch Podcast Awards. In the latest discussion, the commentators questioned whether Renze Klamer had maintained a connection with his target audience.
