2 sources

Crime journalist John van den Heuvel reflected in the podcast The Story of Your Life on his meeting with criminal John Mieremet in 2002. Mieremet gave him information about the criminal underworld, an attack on himself and money laundering; one report said he was carrying a shotgun during the meeting. Van den Heuvel subsequently published several articles based on the meeting. The reports said those publications disrupted the criminal underworld and that threats to Van den Heuvel's home changed his life.
