Demolition of homes in Hoogeveen’s Zeeheldenbuurt began on Monday, when resident Mr Trip, who has lived in the neighbourhood the longest, and a crane operator set the work in motion. Housing corporation Actium plans to demolish 148 social rental homes and replace them with 200 new homes.

The renewal of the neighbourhood is under way.
