Taser used during arrest of delivery driver in Amsterdam

A police officer used a Taser while arresting a delivery driver in Amsterdam's Runstraat after the driver’s van blocked the street during unloading. Police said the driver refused requests to move the van, would not cooperate with identification or arrest, and briefly grabbed the officer’s wrist after being warned twice that a Taser could be used. Footage shows the driver holding the officer’s wrist briefly before the officer pulled free and used the Taser; other footage begins later and does not show the preceding escalation, if any.

Witnesses and shopkeepers said they had not seen aggressive behaviour and considered the Taser unnecessary. The driver was taken to a police station, received three fines and was released. Police are reviewing whether the use of force was necessary and proportionate. GLS said the driver works for a transport partner and that it is in contact with that partner about his welfare.
