For the first time since 2004, more Poles are leaving the Netherlands for Poland than are settling in the Netherlands, causing the number of Polish residents to fall. Reported reasons include homesickness, improving economic opportunities in Poland, the high cost of living and unpleasant work in the Netherlands, and a feeling among some Poles that they remain foreigners there.
