Arnhem’s council groups are due to debate with Mayor Ahmed Marcouch what the city can do to reduce violence and nuisance in the city centre, following a violent incident on 29 September involving Syrian youths. One report described the youths as largely coming from outside Arnhem and said a machete may have been used and bicycle chains were used in assaults.

The discussion also concerns nuisance linked to people with addictions and people in confused states. Marcouch said of the Syrian youths that they are both perpetrators and victims.
