Hein Kurstjens (1931–2026) died after continuing to cut out pieces from NRC until shortly before his death. He had read the newspaper 70 years earlier, as it was also read in his parental home in Tegelen.

Kurstjens was the son of an entrepreneur. He first became what was described as “a kind of hippie” and later became a lawyer.
