Baroness Alexandra Hélène Marguerite van Zuylen van Nijevelt van de Haar died on Friday morning aged 69, Stichting Kasteel de Haar announced. She had served on the supervisory board of Kasteel de Haar in Haarzuilens and had long been closely involved with the castle, which had belonged to her family until 1996.

The castle will keep its shutters closed for the time being as a sign of mourning. The foundation said she had maintained warm ties with the residents of Haarzuilens.
