De Wolden sets priorities as grid congestion affects new housing projects

The municipality of De Wolden has been told by grid operator Enexis that no electricity-grid transport capacity is available for new housing projects with more than five connections. The municipal executive said the communication came as an unpleasant surprise and that the consequences could be considerable. It is setting priorities in response.

The power grid in the municipality of Groningen is full, leaving new connection applications on a waiting list. The municipality has published an address-level priority list for connections for housing and education. Grid operator Enexis told the municipality that there is currently no grid capacity for planned housing projects in Meerstad and Stadshavens.
