PHP developers warned of two critical vulnerabilities in the programming language. Some websites were taken offline as a precaution.

Ethical hacker Wouter van Dongen said the vulnerabilities could have major consequences, including websites being taken over or data being accessed. Reports differed on PHP's reach, putting the share of websites using PHP or its applications at about 70 percent or about three quarters.
