Court orders seller to honor Zeewolde farm sale agreement

A judge ruled that the seller of an agricultural property on Bloesemlaan in Zeewolde must honor a sales agreement made with a nearby farming family. The property consists of 1,305 square metres of agricultural land, a farmhouse, a yard and two sheds. The seller had wanted to withdraw after another interested party made a higher bid. The family business, which grows grain and potatoes, wanted the property as additional crop-storage space. One of the partners, one of the family’s sons, planned to live in the farmhouse with his wife. According to the buyers, the main terms had been agreed and were set out in a detailed draft purchase agreement on 31 July, but the seller did not sign it.
