Court hearing over fatal robbery in Beverwijk

Twenty-year-old Jayden S. appeared in court again over the reported fatal robbery at a gold exchange office on Breestraat in Beverwijk. The 64-year-old branch manager was stabbed during the robbery in April and later died in hospital. Police arrested S., who was 19 at the time, on the same day after he allegedly fled by bicycle. The prosecution suspects him of stabbing the manager while seeking money, gold and silver.

S. said at an earlier hearing that he was struggling with what had happened and was sorry. His lawyer, Gerald Roethof, has asked for an investigation into whether S. should be tried under juvenile criminal law. The current hearing is expected to address the personality investigation and the further course of the case; it is not yet clear when the case will be heard on its merits.
