Court allowed sale of former security guard’s home over Rabobank safe-deposit robbery debt

A court in Breda rejected Agron K.’s request to stop the forced sale of his home in Roosendaal. K., a former security guard convicted for helping robbers enter a Rabobank branch in Oudenbosch and open safe-deposit boxes in 2018, owes nearly €1.48 million including interest and costs. He had been ordered in 2019 to pay €1 million and was serving a four-year prison sentence.

The Central Judicial Collection Agency may proceed with the sale because, according to the ruling, K. had not provided sufficient insight into his finances and payments of about €100 a month were inadequate. The agency reported that roughly €30,000 had been paid over six years. The home was expected to yield about €200,000, with more than €86,000 going first to ING for the mortgage and more than €100,000 to Rabobank. K. said the sale would leave him, his wife and adult son without housing.
