Conviction over school shooting threat in Den Bosch

A juvenile court in Den Bosch sentenced a 15-year-old boy to 40 hours of community service for a social-media threat of a shooting at VMBO school Van Maerlant in March. The message caused alarm at the school, and the boy was arrested shortly afterward.

The boy denied posting the message. The court found that technical evidence pointed to him and that it was unlikely someone else had made the threat. It said messages to others showed that he wanted to be free from school. The reported weapon was an air gun belonging to his father, which was kept in the boy’s room.
