Continued detention and lawyer withdrawal for Jan G.

Jan G. of Overasselt remained in Dutch custody after a court in Den Bosch extended his detention by 30 days. He was arrested in Germany on 18 September and is suspected of involvement in the smuggling of nearly 3,900 kilograms of cocaine through a transport company in Dordrecht.

His lawyer has stopped representing him, with the reason not disclosed. A single report said G. was also involved in several other ongoing or pending criminal proceedings and investigations, including matters concerning a drug laboratory, alleged money laundering and a separate suspected drug shipment; it said he was not a suspect in one Brabant ketamine case but could be called as a witness.
